On Monday, workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) created a major disturbance at the Yes Bank branch located on Mount Road in Nagpur.

They assaulted a bank employee and vandalised the premises, following a loan-related dispute involving a borrower named Indrajit Baliram Mule. According to police reports, Mule had taken a loan from Yes Bank to purchase an earth-moving machine.

Facing financial difficulties, he approached the bank several times seeking a solution but alleged that no help was provided. Matters escalated when Mule claimed that the bank seized the machine while he was taking it to the Regional Transport Office (RTO) for a driving test and later sold it without informing him.

Feeling wronged, Mule sought help from the MNS. In response, a group of MNS workers gathered at the bank branch and launched a protest that quickly turned aggressive.

A video showing MNS members slapping a bank employee, defacing property, shouting slogans, and splashing black ink on the bank’s nameplate went viral on social media.

Police arrived at the scene and detained several of the protestors. They confirmed that an investigation is underway and legal action will be taken based on staff statements and CCTV footage. Security has been increased at the branch.

While the MNS claimed their actions were in support of a common man denied justice, the incident has raised serious concerns about the legality and ethics of such violent protests.

Authorities are also examining whether the bank followed due procedure in seizing and selling the machine. Yes Bank has not yet issued any official statement regarding the incident or the borrower’s claims.

This incident comes shortly after a similar protest by MNS workers at another private bank in Nagpur, related to a dispute over the usage of the Marathi language in official documents.
