Woman Bank Manager working in HDFC Bank Arrested in Fake Credit Card and Loan Scam in Delhi
Dadri police have arrested a woman bank manager involved in a major scam involving fake credit cards and fraudulent loans. The accused, identified as Neha, was employed at HDFC bank in Delhi and played a central role in a gang that exploited financial institutions.
According to the station in-charge of Dadri police, Neha worked alongside her husband and other associates, using forged documents to open bank accounts, issue credit cards, and secure loans. The gang manipulated documents, including Aadhaar cards and rent agreements, to alter names, addresses, and mobile numbers. They primarily operated by submitting fake pay slips under the company name Mafers Fashion Pvt. Ltd., for which Neha received a commission.
The group’s strategy involved opening bank accounts and credit cards using falsified pay slips, transferring large sums of money into these accounts under the guise of salary payments for a period of six to nine months. To ensure control, they purchased new mobile SIM cards in the names of the loan recipients and updated these with the bank, but kept the phones and SIM cards themselves.
By inflating credit scores and providing false pay slip information, the gang successfully secured loans ranging from ₹40 to ₹50 lakh and credit cards with limits of ₹2 to ₹3 lakh. After the loans were approved, they kept control of the funds, paying the loan holder a small share—typically ₹40,000 to ₹50,000, or up to ₹1 lakh in some cases—while retaining the rest.
The group would initially pay two or three EMIs before disappearing, changing their contact details and address. When the banks tried to recover the loans, they found the addresses were fake, and the mobile numbers were disconnected, leaving the institutions unable to trace the debtors.
The scam came to light after the gang’s leader, Amit Kumar, who handled the distribution of the fraudulent funds, was murdered by his associates following a dispute over money. This incident led to the unravelling of the entire operation, resulting in Neha’s arrest. Police investigations are ongoing, and further arrests of other gang members are expected in connection with the large-scale financial fraud.
