Kolkata: A young woman who works in a government bank went through a terrible time when her ex-boyfriend started harassing her by sending hundreds of unwanted packages to her home. The details of the woman have not been revealed due to privacy concerns.

He used cash-on-delivery (COD) orders, meaning she was expected to pay for them. This went on for four months and caused her a lot of stress, leading her to file a complaint with the police.

The case was first reported on March 7. According to the report, the 24-year-old woman was being stalked by someone who kept sending her multiple COD parcels. Because she kept refusing these parcels, her accounts on shopping sites like Amazon and Flipkart got blocked.

At first, the police suspected that some of her colleagues might be behind this act. But after investigating further, they found that the person responsible was actually her ex-boyfriend, Suman Sikdar, who is 25 years old and lives in Nadia district.

Police said that Suman had known the woman for many years, and they had recently broken up. After the breakup, he began troubling her as a way to take revenge. He admitted to the police that he was the one who booked all the parcels and also harassed her with messages and calls from unknown numbers.

According to the police, Suman said that during their relationship, the woman used to shop online a lot and sometimes asked him to buy her gifts. He couldn’t afford many of those things, and he believed that she left him because he wasn’t able to meet her expectations. Out of anger and hurt, he started sending her unwanted COD parcels as a way to trouble her.

The woman filed a complaint at Lake Town police station last month. She said the harassment began in November last year, shortly after their breakup. Every few days, delivery men would come to her door with COD orders — things like mobile phones, tablets, clothes, and small gift items. In February, during the Valentine’s Day period, she received several such packages every single day.

She added that she often had arguments with delivery agents because she kept refusing the parcels. When she contacted Amazon and Flipkart for help, instead of fixing the issue, they blocked her accounts.

The woman works at a nationalised bank in Lake Town, and this continuous harassment made her life very stressful. Suman was arrested and taken to Salt Lake court, where he was granted bail.
