A retired IRS (Indian Revenue Service) officer recently filed a police complaint against three men who allegedly harassed his wife and later tried to threaten him over the phone.

What Happened?

The incident took place on June 10 in Hyderabad, when the officer’s wife was returning home from a relative’s place in Somajiguda. She was traveling in a car when the vehicle reached near Civil Supplies Bhavan to take a U-turn.

At that moment, two men riding a bike, who were suspected to be drunk, intentionally hit their two-wheeler against the car. After the collision, they began to verbally abuse the driver and even tried to drag the officer’s wife out of the car.

When the driver tried to stop them, one of the men snatched the car keys. After that, both men fled the scene on their bike.

Immediate Action by the Officer

The woman quickly made a distress call to her husband, who then contacted the Panjagutta police station. The police took quick action and began checking CCTV footage from the area. They also dispatched a Blue Colt patrol team to trace the accused.

Interestingly, once the men found out that the police were investigating and footage was being reviewed, they came back and returned the car keys.

Further Threats and Intimidation

Later that same night, one of the accused, identified as Raju, reportedly called the retired officer. During the phone conversation, Raju threatened to file a false case under the SC/ST Act. The officer remained calm and told him, “Go ahead and file it against all of us.” After that, Raju disconnected the call.

Legal Action Taken

Based on the officer’s complaint, a case has been registered under Sections 126(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the updated Indian penal law that replaced certain IPC sections. The police are investigating the matter further to identify and take legal action against all involved.
