The Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) has put forward the name of Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh for the position of Managing Director at the State Bank of India (SBI). Currently serving as the deputy managing director, Singh’s extensive experience and expertise make him a strong candidate for the role.
After conducting interviews with 16 candidates on April 23 and 24, the FSIB announced the outcomes of the screening process. The final decision will be made by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Singh’s journey with SBI began on August 1, 1991, when he joined as a probationary officer. Over the course of his 32-year career, he has taken on various responsibilities within the bank, including retail banking, credit, human resources, and international banking. Notably, Singh served as the CEO of SBI’s Frankfurt Branch in Germany, broadening his global perspective and understanding of the industry.
To further enhance his leadership abilities and knowledge, Singh has actively participated in Leadership Development Programmes at renowned institutions such as Harvard Business School, the Indian School of Business in Hyderabad, and Stanford Graduate Business School. Additionally, he is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, solidifying his expertise in the field.
With a strong track record and a diverse skill set, Rana Ashutosh Kumar Singh is poised to lead the State Bank of India towards continued success and growth. His experience in various areas of banking, coupled with his commitment to professional development, make him a deserving candidate for the position of Managing Director.
