Recently, Pankaj Dwivedi, Ex-ED – Union Bank of India is in news. The Government of India has recently demoted him and cancelled his appointment as ED of Union Bank of India. He has been demoted back to Punjab & Sind Bank as General Manager (GM). This is one of the rarest cases in the history of banking when an ED has been demoted. Shri Pankaj Dwivedi took charge as the Executive Director of Union Bank of India on March 27, 2024. Before this, he worked as a General Manager at Punjab & Sind Bank and has over 31 years of banking experience.

He holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Pune, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers (CAIIB). He has also completed the Executive Certificate Programme in Applied Financial Risk Management from IIM Raipur and a Leadership Development Programme from IIM Bangalore, designed by the Banks Board Bureau with IBA and Egon Zehnder International Pvt. Ltd.

While at Punjab & Sind Bank, he worked in various areas of banking. He gained hands-on experience in branches, zonal offices, and multiple departments at the head office. He handled key roles in Priority Sector Lending, Retail Loans, Law & Recovery, Treasury, Corporate Credit, Board Secretariat, Planning & Development, Foreign Exchange, and Co-Lending.

He is also a trustee on the Board of Trustees of IIFCL Mutual Fund.

  1. Govt should take strict action. Demotion is not right punishment for what he did. He should be removed or terminatedd or dismissed from service. If we look into his past, we will certainly See that several officers were dismissed by him

    I m of firm view that such kind of punish Must be imposed on him to cite an example
    Chargesheet and lettrr of allegations should be public ise.

  2. He should not only be suspended but also be arrested based on the charges of alleged corruption and sexual harrasment found to be true, against him., with immediate effect.

    Union Bank of India, should not only be suspended but also be arrested based
    on the proven charges of corruption and sexual harrasment, with immediate effect,
    to safeguard the prestige of the Union Bank of India in particular and also the
    Banking Industry as a whole. Otherwise this type of elements will continue to do
    the same and spoil the Banking Industry.
    However, he should not be denied the scope & opportunity to defend himself
    before the Court of Law.
