The Ministry of Labour and Employment has issued a notice to Bank of India after receiving information about a proposed demonstration and dharna by the We Bankers Staff Association (Rajasthan).

According to the notice, the union has announced plans to hold a protest at the Churu branch of Bank of India from August 19, 2025, over pending disputes with the bank’s management.

Earlier, during conciliation proceedings held on August 14, 2025, it was agreed that the transfer of Shri Narender Kumar Swamy would be put on hold until September 18, 2025. However, the union alleged that the management has not complied with the provisions of Section 33 of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.

The Department has reminded the bank that non-compliance with Section 33 could attract penalties under Section 31 of the Act. The bank has been asked to submit its comments and ensure proper representation during the next hearing scheduled for September 18, 2025.

The ministry has also written to Shri Prem Choudhary, General Secretary of the union, advising that since the matter is already under conciliation, the union should avoid agitation during this process as per Section 22(1) of the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947.
