Update your Aadhaar card for free till September 14, Check step by step process

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended the deadline for updating Aadhaar card details for free. Users can now make changes without any cost until September 14, 2024. Initially set until June 14, 2023, the deadline has been extended several times. The campaign targets citizens who received their Aadhaar card a decade ago and have not yet updated it.

How to Update Aadhaar Details Online

To update Aadhaar details online, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Aadhaar Self-Service portal at https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in.
  2. Log in using your Aadhaar number and captcha.
  3. You will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number for authentication.
  4. Review the existing details by going to the documents update section.
  5. From the drop-down list, select the documents you want to update.
  6. Upload the scanned copies of the original documents.
  7. Click on the submit button.

How to Find an Offline Aadhaar Centre

If you prefer to update your Aadhaar details at a physical center, you can find one using the following steps:

  1. Visit https://bhuvan.nrsc.gov.in/aadhaar/.
  2. Click on the ‘Centres Nearby’ tab.
  3. Add your location details to see nearby Aadhaar centers.
  4. You can also search for Aadhaar centers using the pin code.

Documents Required for Aadhaar Update

To update your Aadhaar details, you will need the following documents:

  • For identity proof and address: Voter ID, ration card, kisan photo passbook, passport, government-issued ID and certificate with address, and certificate of disability.
  • For proof of identity: Driving license, PAN card, school mark sheet, school leaving certificate (with photo), government-issued ID, and freedom fighter photo ID.
  • For proof of address: Utility bills (water/electricity/gas bills from the last three months), bank or post office passbooks, property tax receipts, rent/lease/leave and license agreements, and medical insurance policies.

Remember, these documents are required to maintain accurate demographic details on your Aadhaar card.
