In a major step toward enhancing customer convenience, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has launched a new facility allowing customers to update their KYC (Know Your Customer) details through WhatsApp Banking. The bank has already been offering KYC updation through SMS, but with this new service, customers can now easily update their KYC without visiting a branch — making the process faster, simpler, and fully digital.
Currently, thousands of PNB customers across India face difficulties in updating their KYC due to long queues, limited working hours, and the inconvenience of visiting branches, especially for senior citizens and people living in remote areas. The new WhatsApp-based KYC service will now eliminate these hurdles by allowing customers to update their KYC anytime, anywhere, directly from their mobile phones.
Who Can Use This Facility
This service is available for all customers whose KYC is due or will be due within the next one year.
How to Update KYC on WhatsApp: Punjab National Bank
- Send ‘Hi’ to 9264092640 on WhatsApp.
- Choose the path: All Services → Account Related Services → KYC Update, or simply type ‘KYC’.
- Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
- All CIF IDs linked to your number will appear in masked form.
- Select your CIF ID and confirm.

Once the request is submitted, you’ll receive a confirmation message:
“Your KYC request has been received for Customer ID XXXX… Kindly wait while we process your request – PNB.”
What Happens Next
- If validation is successful, you’ll receive: “Customer ID XXXX – KYC due date has been updated successfully.”
- If you’ve already sent a request, the message will read: “Your KYC request has already been received. Kindly wait while we process your existing request.”
- If KYC information is incomplete, you’ll get: “KYC information is incomplete or validation failed. Kindly contact your branch.”
- If your KYC is already valid, you’ll get: “Dear Customer, your KYC is valid up to DD-MM-YYYY. Kindly update one year before the due date.”
With this launch, PNB customers no longer need to visit branches for simple KYC updates. The WhatsApp-based system makes it easy to complete the process anytime, anywhere.
