UP Govt withholds salary of Govt Employees for not submitting Assets Details
UP Govt withholds salary of Govt Employees: The Uttar Pradesh government has withheld salaries of more than 68,000 state employees who failed to submit details of their movable and immovable assets on the Manav Sampada portal by the January 31 deadline.
Officials said the salaries for January have been stopped and will remain withheld until the mandatory asset declarations are uploaded. The government has also signalled that disciplinary action could follow if compliance is not ensured.
Despite clear instructions issued by Chief Secretary S P Goyal, a large number of employees did not meet the deadline. As a result, there is no assurance that affected staff will receive their salaries in February either, officials indicated. As many as 34,926 Group C employees, 22,624 Group D staff, 7,204 Group B officers and 2,628 Group A officers failed to file their asset details within the stipulated time.

This step is aimed at discouraging corruption, identifying unexplained wealth, and strengthening accountability in public service. The Manav Sampada portal is being used to digitally record these details and maintain proper records. Linking salary payments to asset declaration is a way to ensure serious compliance, as the government wants to send a clear message that honesty and discipline are non-negotiable in government service.
