UP Govt declares Holiday on 1st November, Banks, Govt Offices will remain closed on 31 Oct and 1st Nov
Lucknow: The Yogi government has officially announced a holiday on November 1st, adding an extra day off for Diwali celebrations. This announcement has brought relief to government employees who were unsure if they would have to work for just one day between holidays. However, to balance this extra holiday, employees will now be required to work on the second Saturday of November, which is November 9th.
Previously, the government had declared October 31st as a holiday for Diwali, followed by November 2nd for both Govardhan Puja and Bhai Dooj. Initially, there was no holiday announced for November 1st, and it was assumed that offices would open for one day between the holiday breaks. This led to confusion and concern among employees, who found it inconvenient to return to work just for one day. Employee unions then requested the government to make November 1st a holiday as well.
The government listened to these requests and granted a holiday on November 1st, but set a condition that employees must make up for this by working on November 9th, the second Saturday of the month. Additional Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar also clarified that all offices will return to regular operations starting Monday, November 4th.
This decision has brought happiness to many employees, who are now looking forward to enjoying the festival without the disruption of a one-day break in between. Employee unions have welcomed this move, saying it allows government workers to celebrate Diwali more comfortably and fully enjoy the holiday season.
