UP CM Yogi Adityanath Launches ‘UP AGREES’ and ‘AI Pragya’ Projects with World Bank Support

On May 9, 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met with World Bank President Ajay Banga in Lucknow and launched two important projects – ‘UP AGREES’ and ‘AI Pragya’. These initiatives focus on improving agriculture and boosting digital skills among the youth in the state.
During the event, CM Yogi Adityanath thanked the World Bank for its continuous support in helping Uttar Pradesh grow and achieve its vision of becoming a $1 trillion economy. He said that the world now sees UP not as a hurdle but as the driving force behind India’s growth.
What is UP AGREES?
The UP AGREES (Uttar Pradesh Agriculture, Resilience and Entrepreneurship for Empowered Society) project is aimed at transforming agriculture in 28 districts of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal regions. The goal is to improve crop productivity, promote sustainable farming, and introduce new technologies to help farmers increase their income. This program is expected to benefit a large number of farmers and support rural development in a big way.

What is AI Pragya?
The AI Pragya initiative is focused on building digital skills and creating a strong base of Artificial Intelligence (AI) talent in the state. The aim is to train 10 lakh (1 million) youth across Uttar Pradesh in AI and other emerging technologies. This will prepare young people for future jobs in areas like government services, agriculture, education, and healthcare, where digital technology is becoming increasingly important.

Districts Covered Under These Projects
The projects will be implemented in the following districts:
- Bundelkhand: Banda, Lalitpur, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Mahoba, Chitrakoot
- Purvanchal: Basti, Maharajganj, Ballia, Ghazipur, Varanasi, Chandauli, Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Sant Ravidas Nagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, Kushinagar, Shravasti, Bahraich, Balrampur, Gonda, Siddharthnagar, Gorakhpur, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Jaunpur

Focus on Youth and Technology
CM Yogi Adityanath highlighted that AI Pragya will create new job opportunities and help the youth become part of India’s fast-growing tech sector. It will also improve the use of technology in key sectors like agriculture, education, healthcare, and government services.
