Union Bank will provide compensatory leave to Staff for working on Sunday

Union Bank of India has announced to provide compensatory leave to staff working on Sunday (3 August 2025). Earlier, Union Bank of India had released a circular ordering staff to open branches on Sunday (3 August 2025). The branches will be opened to facilitate disbursement of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi payment of Rs.2000 to beneficiaries.

It has now been communicated by the CGM (HR) to all Zonal / Regional Heads that officers who report for duty on the said date will be granted one day of Compensatory Off, which should be availed on or before 30.08.2025.

Which branches are to be opened?

The authority to decide which branches will remain open lies entirely with the Zonal or Regional Offices. According to directions received from the management, only those branches that are required for disbursing the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme are to remain open. All staff are requested to wait for official instructions from their respective Zonal or Regional Offices before taking any action.

Who should report for duty?

The Zonal/Regional Management will decide how many Officers and Award Staff are required to be present, based on operational needs such as cash handling and disbursal. Only those who are specifically instructed to attend should report for duty. Management will ensure that all staff attending duty will be granted compensatory off accordingly.

Order to open branches

The Prime Minister of India – Shri Narendra Modi, will release the 20th installment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi to the eligible PM KISAN Farmers on 2nd August 2025 (Saturday).

The Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance has directed the Banks to keep open the Branches from 29th July to 2nd August 2025 along with the following day i.e. 3rd August 2025 (Sunday) to enable payment to the beneficiaries on the due date event.

Thus, Union Bank and other major banks have released instructions that all the Branches will remain open for public on 3rd August 2025 (Sunday).
