Union Bank is taking a progressive step towards addressing the challenges faced by its officers by introducing ‘Mission Swabhiman.’ This initiative aims to enhance the work-life balance of the bank’s dedicated officers, who have been grappling with staff shortages, high work pressure, late evening meetings, target pressures, and a lack of balance between their personal and professional lives. By urging officers to leave the bank by 5:45 pm and withdraw from office WhatsApp groups after work hours, Union Bank hopes to provide them with the opportunity to unwind and focus on personal well-being.
The Importance of Work-Life Balance
In today’s fast-paced world, achieving a healthy work-life balance has become increasingly challenging. Long working hours, high stress levels, and constant connectivity have taken a toll on employees’ mental and physical well-being. Recognizing this, Union Bank acknowledges the significance of maintaining a harmonious equilibrium between work and personal life.
The Objectives of ‘Mission Swabhiman’
The primary objective of ‘Mission Swabhiman’ is to prioritize the well-being of Union Bank’s officers. By encouraging them to leave the bank premises by 5:45 pm, the initiative aims to provide them with ample personal time to relax, spend quality moments with loved ones, pursue hobbies, or engage in self-care activities. This dedicated personal time will help officers recharge and rejuvenate, leading to increased productivity and job satisfaction.
Additionally, ‘Mission Swabhiman’ recommends officers to withdraw from office-related WhatsApp groups after work hours. This step enables them to disconnect from work-related discussions and notifications, allowing them to focus on personal matters and establish a clear boundary between work and personal life.
Supporting Officers and Addressing Challenges
Union Bank acknowledges the existing challenges faced by officers, such as staff shortages, high work pressure, and target expectations. The bank is actively working to implement solutions that address these issues, aiming to create a smoother workflow and reduce the burden on its dedicated officers. By doing so, Union Bank ensures that employees can achieve a better work-life balance without compromising on their commitment to their roles.
Implementing ‘Mission Swabhiman’ is expected to yield several positive outcomes. By encouraging officers to leave the bank premises on time, Union Bank aims to reduce work-related stress and improve employee morale. Personal time will allow officers to engage in activities that bring them joy, enabling them to return to work with renewed energy and focus. Moreover, by withdrawing from office WhatsApp groups after work hours, officers can alleviate the pressure of constant connectivity and establish healthier boundaries between work and personal life.
Everything is fake. Now also bankers are facing lot of problems. This much big issue happen in the union bank but non of the management person taking any action to reduce the pressure. What is definition of work-life balance, still they don’t know. Only in front of camera for showcase they will define the work-life balance.
Good initiative and courageous steps towards Banking sector reforms towards work – life Balance.
Only now bank people r working justifying their salary.
Please sit in their chair with all eligibility to sit there and serve for atleast one month, u will come to know how difficulty it is to work with unrealistic targets, high pressure, very very less staff to cater customer needs….
This type of agitation and demand comes only after an incident has happened and after sometime every one forgets the issue. Take a corrective step and legalise it by ordinance from government authorities who are the real suckers of blood of the poor employees. None of a banker child is now encouraged to become banker…why….Bank job became such worst hectic terrible pressure from higher authorities…
Just yesterday, I complained about staff leaving for lunch before 2 PM while the branch is dark. Means even Manager not available, then whom to complain. If each of the staff of 8500 branches take away CUSTOMER TIME , how much will be the loss for the Bank. 10 minutes before 2 PM , 10 mts after lunch, 10 mts at branch opening. Actually, it is not the Customer but the Bank will suffer and also staff in the long run. Private Banks never close before time but only PSBs do it. Managers are either helpless or follow same habit. First it develops as a habit then becomes a right. During this time loss of about half an hour A DAY FOR EACH EMPLOYEE, Bank May earn some commission, get some repayments, get some WALK IN Deposits etc. Employees agree before TRIPARTITE meeting many things but in actual practice they CURTAIL CUSTOMER TIME and disrespect their duties as agreed. They should contribute POSITIVELY BUT NOT NEGATIVELY. They can get more business by luring and befriending customers citing lower Minimum balance needs etc. benefits as compared to Private Banks. Yesterday at 1.54 PM , the branch MADHURAWADA 1 , Visakhapatnam closed for lunch, the Security did not even allow me inside because he thinks he has to OBEY STAFF ORDERS but not Bank set rules. Cashier said Cash not accepted and advised me to deposit in Machine. Thus he himself encourages Machine use so gradually employee number will be reduced. But Machine cannot develop good relations. The same conditions of 70s even in 2024.
I feel you are in 70ties. In the era of online banking you are still expecting at banker to receive your cash or you have cash which indicate 🤔 trying to avoid online cash receipt.
Sir this time government job kaha itna nikalti hai nikalti hai toh competition bhut hai and saath me hi berojgar kitne hai toh atleast kisi ke pehchan me koi bank side ho to un person contact krke work krwaye
