Union Bank Manager, Cashier Booked for Fraud After Farmer’s Complaint in Barabanki
A case of fraud and forgery has been registered against three people, including the then branch manager and a cashier of the Union Bank of India’s Fatehpur branch in Barabanki. The case was registered at Fatehpur police station on the orders of the court. The court issued the order after a farmer filed a petition seeking justice.
The complainant, Vishwanath, is a 60-year-old farmer from Pandit Purva Harkka village in the Mohammadpur Khala police station area. He said he has a savings account and a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) account at the Fatehpur branch of Union Bank. He alleged that bank officials withdrew cash from his account using loose-leaf cheques without his knowledge or signature. He claimed that he never issued any cheque and never withdrew the money himself.

According to the farmer, ₹2.59 lakh was deposited in his KCC account on May 29, 2021. Later, he visited the bank on July 23, 2024, and again on September 9, 2024, after receiving notices from the bank. Each time, bank staff told him that his account was in order.
However later he learned that money had been withdrawn from his account using forged signatures.
Vishwanath said he sent written complaints to senior bank officials, including the Union Bank regional office in Ayodhya, but no action was taken. He also alleged that bank officials abused and threatened him, and warned that recovery certificates (RC) would be issued against him.

Police Inspector Amit Singh said that following the court’s direction, an FIR has been registered against the branch manager, cashier, and one unidentified person. The police are now investigating the case.
