To,
Ms. A Manimekhalai,
MD & CEO,
Union Bank of India,
Central Office,
Mumbai.
Madam,
As your tenure with Union Bank comes to an end, we take this opportunity to extend our formal farewell.
While leadership is often a balance of vision and collaboration, our experience has regrettably been marked by decisions that lacked inclusivity and respect for genuine concerns.
Throughout your time in Union Bank of India, our Association being the absolute majority recognised Union, tirelessly advocated for fair treatment, reasonable demands, and recognition of employees’ hard work. Unfortunately, these efforts were met with unilateral decision-making, dismissive attitudes, and a reluctance to engage in meaningful dialogue. This may be because of your immediate subordinate who gave wrong feedbacks & advocated for ill moves but genuine grievances were overlooked, and the voices of dedicated employees were often disregarded. We believe that a truly successful organization is built on collaboration, mutual respect, and a willingness to listen to all stakeholders, especially its workforce. Unfortunately, the working environment under your leadership has frequently been marked by an autocratic style that has stifled open communication and negatively impacted employee morale.
Despite these challenges, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a workplace built on mutual respect, fairness, and cooperation. As you move out of the Bank, we sincerely hope that future leadership of the Bank will bring an opportunity for introspection and growth—where an appreciation for collective well-being takes precedence over authority alone.
While we bid farewell to you we trust that the experiences gained by the Bank during your tenure will make it realise the reflection on the importance of inclusive leadership.
Thanking you,
Yours Truly,
(N. SHANKAR)
