According to police reports, on the 11th of September 2023, an alert was received at the South Police Station regarding the discovery of a deceased individual in the swimming pool of a prestigious hotel on Falnir Road in Mangaluru.

Upon immediate arrival at the scene and after verifying the details, it was determined that the deceased was Gopu R Nair, a 38-year-old resident of Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. Mr. Nair, who worked at Union Bank, had come to Mangaluru for a business conference.

He had checked into the hotel on Sunday, the 10th of September, at approximately 11:00 AM. Tragically, at around 4:00 PM on the same day, while swimming, it appears that he lost control, possibly due to alcohol consumption, resulting in his untimely death. He was staying alone at the hotel.

However, it wasn’t until the morning of Monday, the 11th of September, that hotel staff discovered his lifeless body. The entire sequence of events was captured on the hotel’s CCTV system. An empty alcohol bottle was also discovered in his room and has been confiscated as evidence.

A case has been formally registered under UDR No 75/2023 at the South Police Station, and a thorough investigation is currently underway.
