The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has come in support of Indian Overseas Bank Officers’ Association (IOBOA) and strike announced on 2nd March 2026.

UFBU has written a letter to MD&CEO of Indian Overseas Bank and said that the acts of management will worsen the situation. UFBU has urged the MD&CEO to intervene and resolve the issue amicably.

AIBOC has also supported the strike. AIBOC said : This fight is for the dignity and work-life balance of the officers’ community. The association had announced a strike against the toxic work culture prevailing in Banks. In return, the management attacked the dignity of the association. Some of the prevailing issues are:

  1. Coercive surveillance and rating mechanisms
  2. Arbitrary “leave denial” and “loss of pay”
  3. Intimidation and unprofessional review culture
  4. Unjust salary recoveries and penalties
  5. Unilateral policy changes without consultation

The management of Indian Overseas Bank has locked the office premises of the Indian Overseas Bank Officers’ Association (IOBOA), located within the bank’s Head Office building, by affixing an additional lock. This building, allotted by the bank itself, was the office of the association alongside the award staff union office for several decades, serving as the nerve centre for our activities, member communications, and grievance redressal.

The office staff, who arrived for their routine duties, were denied entry and forced to stand outside the premises for the entire day, enduring unnecessary hardship and humiliation. This was done without any prior notice, explanation, or opportunity for us to address any purported concerns. The association has termed it an attack on legitimate trade union activities.
