UCO Bank bars staff from taking privilege leave till September-end

Kolkata: UCO Bank (Salt Lake Zone) has issued a strict order restricting its employees from availing Privilege Leave, LTC (Leave Travel Concession), or LFC (Leave Fare Concession) until September 30, 2025. The order, signed by the Deputy General Manager and Zonal Head of Salt Lake Zone, comes ahead of the half-yearly financial closing of FY 2025-26.
According to the order, the bank has noticed that a significant number of employees are proceeding on leave without proper approval through the HRMS portal. With the half-yearly closing approaching, the bank wants its employees to work for improvement in business parameters, reduction in NPAs, etc.
The order states that:
- Privilege Leave will not be sanctioned until September 30, except under exceptional or emergency circumstances. Such requests will need clearance from the Zonal Office.
- Casual Leave should also be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
- LTC/LFC availment is completely barred until the end of September.
The bank has also instructed branches not to seek deputations during this period. The order stressed that employees should devote their full attention towards enhancing profitability, performance, recovery, and control.
Labour law experts said that such circulars may create industrial unrest. Leave is not a favour from management; it is a legal right. Denying employees their privilege leave for business reasons can be challenged in labour courts or industrial tribunals.

In banking sector, situations are going to worst to worst. Recently we have transferred from our domicile zone to another zone. When we asked for leave in August then our boss objected that every 2-3 months you are going to home for meet your parents, wife and children.
Totally unfair. , should be challenged in court.
DGM and ZM are thinking that all the employees in that zone are like them only . So that they ordered like this . Union first needs to check their live from joining.
treat the employees with humanitarian employees will give full contribution to organisation. Bank will scale to new heights. Policing will not work. This top executives who have no ground level experience will not understand
Its completely inhuman,insensible and dictatorship order, it’s bank who need to increase the manpower as all the banks are under manpowered, instead looking at that direction they are forcing us not to apply leave, Union should timely step into the matter and do the needful.
This type of incidents are happening now why union is not raising voice against that.
Nowadays management of banking sector has become totally blood suckers.. For personal promotion and to enjoy holidays in goa with the money from insurance companies these DGM and GMs are making the life hell of the ground people in branches.. The branch head and the team members are scolded everyday to achieve all the parameters except the basic banking functions..
Seniors are only think to harass juniors.
