Tata Communications Appoints N Ganapathy Subramaniam as Chairman

The Board of Tata Communications Ltd has appointed N Ganapathy Subramaniam as the chairman of the board of directors, effective March 14, 2025. The decision was based on the recommendation of the nomination and remuneration committee, as announced by the company on Friday.

Background of N Ganapathy Subramaniam

Subramaniam joined the board of Tata Communications as a non-executive director on December 2, 2021. He has been a part of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and the Indian IT industry for over 40 years. He previously served as the chief operating officer and executive director of TCS until he stepped down in May 2024.

According to Tata Communications, he has played a strategic role in banking, telecom, and public services globally. His expertise includes technology, operations, product development, business transformation, and change management.

Tata Communications’ Strong Financial Performance

Tata Communications reported a net profit of ₹236 crore for the December 2024 quarter, reflecting a 424% year-on-year growth compared to ₹45 crore in the same quarter last year.

The company’s revenues from operations stood at ₹5,798 crore, marking a 3.8% increase from ₹5,587.78 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2023-24.

Sequentially, net profit rose by 4% from ₹227 crore in the July-September 2024 quarter. The company also reported a 1.2% revenue growth between Q2 and Q3 FY25.

With N Ganapathy Subramaniam at the helm, Tata Communications aims to strengthen its leadership position in the telecom and technology sector.
