Strike Stands! Talks between CLC, DFS, IBA and Bank Unions Failed on 5 Day Banking

Banks will be closed on 27 January 2026 as reconciliation talks have failed between UFBU, DFS, IBA, CLC and Bank Management. Today a meeting was held between them and ultimately the talks have failed. This means strike on 27 January 2026 will continue. The next meeting will take place again tomorrow 23.01.2026 at 3.30 PM.

The Chief Labour Commissioner had called DFS Secretary, IBA Chairman and MD&CEO of all PSU Banks to meeting on 22.01.2026. The purpose of meeting was to hold discussions on implementation of 5 Day Banking.

Earlier, a meeting was held between IBA and UFBU on 14.01.2026 to discuss on implementation of 5 Day Banking. The talks failed and UFBU announced to proceed on strike. Now, CLC has once again invited DFS and IBA Chairman to discuss on the issue of implementation of 5 Day Banking.
