Solar Scam: Doctor Defrauded of Rs 7.5 Lakhs, Stay Safe!

A doctor from Mangalwar Peth has fallen victim to a fraud involving the installation of a solar energy system at their hospital. The scam resulted in a loss of ₹7.5 lakhs, leaving the doctor with no solar installation and out of pocket.

How the Scam Unfolded

The doctor, based at a hospital in Parge Chowk, Mangalwar Peth, had decided to invest in a solar energy system to power the facility. Pradeep Baban Jamdar, a resident of Benda Budruk, Ahmednagar, approached the doctor with an offer to install the system for ₹7.5 lakhs.

After agreeing to the deal, the doctor made an initial payment of ₹48,000. This was followed by further payments made both in cash and online, adding up to ₹7 lakhs in total. However, after receiving the money, Jamdar abandoned the project without completing the installation.

Failed Attempts at Contact

When the doctor realized the work was not progressing, they tried to contact Jamdar multiple times, but all efforts went unanswered. This is when the doctor suspected foul play and decided to take action.

Police Investigation

The doctor reported the incident to the Samarth Police Station. A case of fraud has been registered against Jamdar. Assistant Police Inspector Patil is now investigating the matter to trace Jamdar and recover the lost funds.

Growing Trend of Scams Targeting Professionals

This isn’t an isolated case. Recently, another doctor from the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) was defrauded of ₹1.22 crore in a fake stock market investment scheme. The 32-year-old victim received a message on their mobile phone promising high returns from stock market investments, only to later realize it was a trap set by cyber criminals.

Conclusion

These incidents highlight a disturbing trend where even educated professionals are falling prey to fraud. It’s crucial to remain cautious when dealing with large payments and promises of high returns, whether it’s for services like solar energy systems or investment schemes. Always verify the authenticity of the service provider and the offer before making any financial commitments.
