Shutter Locks Broken! Robbery Attempt at PNB Bank in Mandi Himachal Pradesh

Robbers tried to loot the second largest public sector bank in India – Punjab National Bank (PNB) in Mandi Himachal Pradesh. But luckily the incident was averted.

Miscreants attempted to rob the Punjab National Bank branch in Sarkaghat subdivision on Sunday night. On Monday morning, one of the locks on the bank’s shutter was found broken, following which the police were immediately informed.

Sarkaghat is a town and a tehsil, near Mandi city in Mandi district of the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh

The Sarkaghat police immediately reached the spot and conducted an investigation. Fortunately, no robbery was reported. The bank management confirmed that all valuables and items inside the branch were safe.

Branch Manager of Punjab National Bank stated that around 8:00 a.m. on Monday, the cleaning staff noticed that one of the two locks on the shutter was missing. The staff member immediately informed him over the phone, and the manager then alerted the Sarkaghat police. Police officials arrived and carried out an on-site investigation.

Sarkaghat Police Station In-charge said that the bank’s main gate has double shutters, and the miscreants managed to break only one of the locks. He stated that the CCTV footage is being examined, and the investigation is being done.

In the recent months, the robbery incidents in Banks have increased a lot. Various incidents have been reported all across India. Citizens are requested the Government of India and Banks to increase the security in branches.
