Moradabad: In a disturbing turn of events, retired bank manager Veer Singh, 65, was tragically murdered by Manoj Kumar, the present manager at the Papsara (Amroha) branch of Prathama UP Gramin Bank. He executed the crime along with his girlfriend Veerbala – a teacher, and their friend Anil Kumar Gupta – a car mechanic. The police have arrested all three suspects and have now solved the case.
Here’s what we know: The murder occurred because Veer Singh had previously reported Manoj Kumar for corruption. According to SP Rural Sandeep Kumar Meena, Veer Singh’s body was discovered on Chandausi Road in the Mainather police station area around midnight on August 16. His motorcycle was found nearby. An autopsy revealed that he was strangled to death.
Veer Singh’s son, Harshit Chaudhary, filed a murder complaint, leading the police to investigate the case. During their investigation, they identified the suspects: Manoj Kumar from Shahpur Tigri, Majhola; Anil Kumar Gupta from Double Storey MDA Colony, Civil Lines; and Veerbala Yadav from Atoura, Sambhal, who teaches at a primary school in Ratanpur Kala village of Pakbara.
According to the police, Manoj Kumar and Veer Singh had a professional history together at the Papsara branch of Amroha. The conflict arose when Veer Singh complained to higher authorities about Manoj Kumar’s demand for bribes from people seeking loans. This complaint made Manoj angry against Veer Singh.
To execute his plan, Manoj Kumar took the help of his girlfriend, Veerbala. On the evening of August 16, Veerbala lured Veer Singh to meet her near the MDA office. She then convinced him to give her a ride on his motorcycle, leading him to Chandausi Cut. There, Manoj Kumar and Anil Kumar Gupta, who were following in a car, attacked Veer Singh. They forcibly dragged him into the car, where they first strangled him with their hands and then with a rope before dumping his body and fleeing.
On Monday, the police presented the three suspects in court and they have been sent to jail. This case has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting a tragic turn of events fueled by greed and resentment.
