A shocking incident took place in Amethi district, Uttar Pradesh, where government officials were attacked by local people. The revenue department team had gone to remove illegal occupation from government land, but were attacked by public.
The team included SDM Preeti Tiwari, Naib Tehsildar Anushree Tripathi, Kanungo Santosh Singh, Lekhpal Manish Saroj, Gaurav Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Ranjit Yadav, Anoop Gupta and Siraj Ahmed.
The incident took place in Madhavpur village, Ward No. 13, under the Gauriganj police station area. A team led by SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) Preeti Tiwari, along with Naib Tehsildar Anushree, Lekhpal Siraj, and other revenue officials, had gone to remove illegal constructions on government land.

As soon as the team began their work, a group of local goons and their family members—including women—attacked the officials. They started throwing stones, argued, and damaged government vehicles. The situation quickly turned tense.
The action was based on a complaint by Bholanath Singh, a resident of Madhavpur. He had complained that some people—Tejbhan Singh, Uday Bhan Singh, and their family—had illegally occupied his land (Gata number 286) as well as a public road (Gata number 291). According to Bholanath, he had been raising this issue since 1999, but no strong action had been taken until now.
When the team began clearing the land, the accused family members, including women, joined forces and attacked. Stones were hurled, and there was physical scuffle and verbal abuse.
- Naib Tehsildar Anushree and Lekhpal Siraj received minor injuries during the attack.
- SDM Preeti Tiwari and other staff were rescued safely by security personnel present on the spot.
Bholanath Singh explained that the public road next to his farm and house was illegally blocked by the goons. He said:
“I had complained several times in the past, but no one listened. When finally the officials came to act, the accused attacked them. Even women from my family were harassed, and their chains, earrings, and mobile phones were snatched.”
He also added that one of the attackers, Suryabhan Singh, is already in jail in another criminal case and that the entire family is known for their criminal background.

The ADM Finance, Arpit Gupta, confirmed that during the action, government officials and vehicles were attacked. Fortunately, only minor injuries occurred.
Additional SP Shailendra Kumar Singh informed that police reached the spot immediately after getting the information and brought the situation under control.
So far, five people have been detained, and a case has been registered. Further investigation is ongoing and strict action will be taken against those responsible.
