The State Bank of India (SBI), the country’s largest lender, has launched the Nation First Transit Card, a single card that can be used for seamless and convenient commuting across multiple modes of transportation, including metro, buses, water ferries, and parking. The card can also be used for retail and e-commerce payments.

The Nation First Transit Card is powered by RuPay and National Common Mobility Card (NCMC) technology. It is aligned with the national vision of “One Nation One Card”, which aims to create a single, interoperable card that can be used for travel across the country.

SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara said the card is “set to revolutionize the commuting experience” and will “make banking and everyday life simpler for our customers.” He added that the bank is also implementing NCMC-based ticketing solutions in MMRC Metro Line 3 and Agra Metro, which will be available to the public soon.

SBI has been a pioneer in the development of NCMC-based solutions. In 2019, the bank launched the “City1 Card” in Noida Metro, the “Nagpur Metro MAHA Card” in Nagpur Metro, the “MUMBAI1 Card” in MMRDA Metro Lines 2A & 7, the “GoSmart Card” in Kanpur Metro, and the “Singara Chennai Card” in Chennai Metro.

The launch of the Nation First Transit Card is a major step towards the realization of the “One Nation One Card” vision. It will make it easier for people to travel across the country and will boost the growth of the digital economy.
