SBI Deputy Manager Attempts Suicide Outside Bank in Rajasthan

Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan: On Wednesday in Kand village under the Gudha police station area, Pawan Kumar, a former Deputy Manager of the State Bank of India (SBI), attempted to set himself on fire outside the local bank branch. According to the police, Pawan Kumar poured petrol on himself after an argument with colleagues at the bank. However, before he could ignite it, villagers rushed to stop him and poured water to prevent any harm.

Gudha Police Station Officer Ram Manohar Tholia reached the spot immediately after receiving the information. He and his team calmed Pawan Kumar and took him to the police station for counseling. Later, he was medically examined at the Community Health Centre (CHC), Gudha. The police have begun an investigation into the incident.

Pawan Kumar was earlier posted as Deputy Manager at the SBI branch in Kand village and had been transferred to the Bhiwadi branch in May this year. On Wednesday, he visited the Kand branch for some personal work, during which he reportedly got into an argument with some of his former colleagues. The dispute escalated, and soon after, he went outside, sat down, and poured petrol on himself.

Eyewitnesses said they saw him take out a container and pour petrol. Villagers and customers immediately rushed to stop him and poured water on him. Station House Officer Tholia said, “We received a call that a man was attempting suicide outside the bank. Our team immediately reached the spot and brought the situation under control. He has been examined medically, and we are conducting further investigation based on his statement and the medical report.”

Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident was the result of mental stress and workplace pressure following his transfer. Police officials said that once Pawan Kumar’s condition improves, he will be questioned to understand the reasons behind his actions. As per reports, Pawan Kumar had been under considerable stress since his transfer from Kand to Bhiwadi. His family members informed police that he had been worried about the transfer and had become increasingly depressed in recent weeks due to personal and professional issues.

  1. Unfortunately this guy is in SBI and that’s why not properly groomed. Otherwise in smaller banks officer without any jack / or expert in extraneous ability, are being kicked at every 2/3 years. That also from one corner to other corner of India. Yes, there are many unfortunates who are rotting at one place only with all the loads like compulsion to face family every day, same society, peomotion in the same locality etc. They are not able to enjoy bachlorhood like many.
