Datia has recently seen an uptick in criminal activity, with a troubling incident occurring on the Datia-Goraghat Road near Guliapura. On Friday evening, around 6:30 PM, a State Bank of India (SBI) branch manager was targeted by two armed robbers.
Here’s what happened: As the bank manager, Rahul Upadhyay, was heading home on his bike after closing up the bank for the day, he was intercepted by two men on a motorcycle. The robbers, both armed, blocked his path. The one riding behind got off, pointed a gun at Mr. Upadhyay, and forcibly grabbed his maroon-colored bag. The bag contained not only ₹10,000 in cash but also important bank documents, his lunch box, and crucially, the keys to the bank branch. This made the situation even more urgent, as the robbers now had direct access to the bank.
Upon learning of the robbery, Station In-Charge Ambar Singh Sikarwar quickly mobilized the police force to the scene. Officers are currently investigating the incident and working to gather information about the suspects. Given that the robbers have the keys to the bank, the police have taken additional precautions by maintaining a presence outside the bank throughout the night. The police kept a constant watch over the bank throughout the night. The authorities are doing everything they can to track down the culprits and ensure the safety of the bank and its assets. This incident highlights the increasing need for vigilance and enhanced security measures in the area.
