In a shocking case from Alwar, Rajasthan, a bank clerk named Nikki Sethi and her husband, Yogesh Kumar, were arrested for embezzling Rs 99 lakh from the State Bank of India (SBI) branch at Mahal Chowk. The couple had been on the run for two years but were recently caught by the police while living in a rented house in the same city.

How the Fraud Happened

The incident took place on September 6, 2022, when Nikki Sethi, who was in charge of handling the parking account at the SBI branch, transferred Rs 99 lakh into 20 different bank accounts. These accounts mostly belonged to her family members and close acquaintances. She used fake vouchers to carry out these transfers, making it appear as if the transactions were legitimate.

Bank’s Action and Police Involvement

The fraud came to light when SBI Mahal Chowk bank manager, Anshuman, filed a complaint with the police on September 6, 2022. He reported that Nikki had siphoned off a large amount of money by manipulating the bank’s system. After investigating, the police confirmed that the bank clerk had created fake documents to transfer the funds.

Both Nikki and her husband, Yogesh, were arrested by the police from a rented house in Surya Nagar. They were residents of Scheme Number 10B Housing Board Diwanji Ke Bagh but had moved to avoid getting caught. The police detained them for questioning and have since presented them in court.

This case highlights how easily financial systems can be exploited by insiders and how crucial it is for organizations to have strong checks and balances in place to detect fraud. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are likely to dig deeper into how the crime was executed and who else might be involved.

  1. The under mentioned points tell every leakage
    1. Without any hesitation it can be said that the VVR checking was not done properly only ticking were marked
,2. The Branch Manager in evening never checked VVR meticulously.
    3. The BGL Balance was not checked by the controlling office
    4. “She used fake vouchers to carry out these transfers, making it appear as if the transactions were legitimate”. When a blind person can make differentiate between fake and real currency Notes, by touching the fingers, then how may be believed that officers having full eye sight couldn’t make difference
between fraud enteries and real entries.

It will certainly a huge network of fraud and such kinds of frauds can’t be occurred without the involvement of staff.
