Rs 30 Lakh Looted from SBI Bank in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj, Odisha – A daring bank robbery took place on Thursday at the State Bank of India (SBI) Bahalda branch in Mayurbhanj district, where at least Rs 30 lakh was looted by a gang of five armed robbers. During the incident, two bank employees were injured while trying to stop the robbers.

How the Robbery Happened

According to reports, five masked robbers entered the bank early in the morning, posing as customers. The bank had just opened for the day when the criminals carried out their plan.

Employees Attacked for Resisting

During the robbery, the bank manager and another employee tried to resist the looters. However, the robbers attacked and beat them for attempting to stop the crime. Both employees suffered injuries and were later taken to the hospital for treatment.

How the Robbers Escaped

After grabbing the money, the five robbers quickly fled from the scene using two motorcycles. Witnesses at the bank stated that the criminals were communicating in Hindi, suggesting they may not be locals.

Police Investigation Begins

Following the robbery, the Bahalda Police reached the bank and began an investigation. Senior officers, including the Rairangpur Additional SP and SDPO, also arrived at the scene to examine the situation.

Questions About Security Lapses

The incident has raised serious concerns about security at the bank. Reports suggest that the bank opened for the day before the arrival of security guards, making it an easy target for the robbers. Police are now investigating how this security lapse occurred and whether inside involvement played a role in the crime.

Authorities are checking CCTV footage and speaking to eyewitnesses to track down the robbers. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
