A robbery attempt took place at the Canara Bank branch in Chamkari village, located in the Kotwali Dehat police station area of Etah district. Late at night, unidentified thieves broke into the bank by cutting through a window.

Thieves Fail to Break Locker, Flee with CCTV Equipment

The thieves tried to break open the bank’s locker but were unsuccessful. However, before escaping, they took away the bank’s CCTV DVR (Digital Video Recorder) and router, which store security camera footage.

Bank Staff Alert Police After Finding Damage

When the bank staff arrived for duty the next morning, they discovered signs of vandalism inside the bank and damage to the window. The staff immediately informed the Kotwali Dehat police station about the incident.

Police Investigation Underway

Kotwali Dehat Station in-charge, RK Singh, confirmed that an FIR (First Information Report) has been registered against the unidentified thieves based on a complaint from the bank employees. Singh assured that the police are actively investigating the case.

Fortunately, no major damage was done to the bank during the attempted robbery, and the locker remains intact. The police are now working to gather clues, including tracking the stolen CCTV equipment, to identify and catch the culprits.

This incident highlights the importance of robust bank security measures, including reinforced locker systems, secure windows, and backup storage for CCTV footage.

Although the thieves failed in their robbery attempt, the theft of CCTV equipment is a concern as it may delay the identification of the culprits. The police investigation aims to recover the stolen devices and prevent similar incidents in the future.
