A case has come to light where a group of thieves attempted robbery by digging a tunnel in the branch of Punjab National Bank located on Foysagar Road in Ajmer.
On Saturday, the police from Ganj Thana arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation. CCTV cameras around the incident site have also been examined by the police. The complaint from the bank manager has prompted Ganj Thana police to initiate an inquiry.
According to information, the gang of thieves dug a tunnel from an empty plot next to the PNB branch on Foysagar Road.
They intended to breach the wall of the bank’s strong room with the tunnel, but they fled empty-handed upon discovery. The incident caused quite a stir among the bank staff. After filling the tunnel, the damaged wall was repaired.
Ganj Thana in-charge, Bhikharam Kala, stated that a complaint was lodged by the bank management on Friday night. On Saturday morning, the incident site was inspected. Representatives from the bank have already repaired the damaged wall. The incident is reported to have occurred on the 30th of this month. CCTV footage is being analyzed as part of the investigation.
On Saturday morning, MLA Vasudev Devnani also arrived at the scene from north Ajmer. He obtained information about the incident from Ganj Thana police.
During a media conversation, Devnani mentioned that fixing the tunnel without informing the police first is against the rules, and a complaint was made to the police later. He emphasized the need for increased police patrolling to prevent such incidents, ensuring the safety of the general public.
