RBI New Rules: Banks and NBFCs can’t sell Assets Back to Defaulting Borrowers
The RBI has introduced new guidelines under the Resolution of Stressed Assets Directions, 2025, barring banks, small finance banks, and NBFCs from selling specified non-financial assets acquired from defaulting borrowers back to them or their related parties. The new norms will be effective from 1 October 2026.
