The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has released a new circular on Gold Loan. The RBI has changed the amount of loan that a customer can get by pledging his gold in banks. The maximum LTV ratio in respect of consumption loans against the eligible collateral shall not exceed LTV ratios as provided in the table below:

Total consumption loan amount per borrowerMaximum LTV ratio
≤₹2.5 lakh85 per cent
> ₹2.5 lakh & ≤ ₹5 lakh80 per cent
> ₹5 lakh75 per cent

The Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio for gold loans has been increased from 75% to 85% for loans up to Rs 2.5 lakh. This means that if someone pledges gold worth Rs 1 lakh, they will now be able to get a loan of up to Rs 85,000.
