Rajasthan SDM Chhotu Lal Sharma Suspended for Slapping Petrol Pump Employee
Rajasthan RAS Officer SDM Chhotu Lal Sharma has been suspended by the state government after a video clip showing him getting involved in a physical altercation with petrol pump staff in Bhilwara went viral. The viral video clip showed Sharma, an RAS officer in Pratapgarh, slapping a petrol pump employee after he reportedly refused to refuel his vehicle before another.

SDM along with his Wife went to Petrol Pumo to refuel his car. He asked Petrol Pump Employee to refuel his car before other cars. When Petrol Pump employees denied, he slapped employee and in turn, petrol pump employee also slapped SDM.

As soon as the video went viral on social media, government took notice of it and has suspended SDM Chhotu Lal Sharma. SDM’s Wife also filed complaint with police that petrol pump employees misbehaved with her, winked at her and said – ‘Kya Maal Lag rahi hai’.

This incident clearly shows that if you are at a higher rank, then you should be calm and not try to misuse your power.
In past also, there have been several complaints against the SDM. In 2017, during an outreach campaign of the government, he was removed from his post after a public altercation with the then panchayat samiti development officer. Later that year, he again faced disciplinary action over irregularities surrounding the mining activities of Jindal Shah Ltd, following orders from the state personnel department. In 2018, while serving as the SDM in Tonk, Sharma was accused of assaulting his peon at home. It was alleged that the peon had run away with bribe money meant to be delivered to the SDM’s residence.
