In a shocking incident that unfolded on Tuesday afternoon, the branch manager and assistant manager of Punjab National Bank (PNB) were brutally stabbed and left severely injured by a customer within the confines of the manager’s cabin. The accused has been apprehended, but the condition of the branch manager, Shantanu Raut, is reported to be critical.

According to reports, the incident occurred at the Tower Chowk branch of PNB in Khamgaon. The customer involved, identified as Kiran Galgol from Jalka Bhadang village in Khamgaon taluka, had visited the bank with the intention of withdrawing money to distribute among farmer members of a credit society.
The situation took a turn when the bank manager, Shantanu Raut, requested Galgol to provide a true copy of the proceedings book of the society as a requirement for the cash withdrawal. Galgol, however, argued that he had previously withdrawn money based on a true copy of the proceedings book. Despite the disagreement, Raut remained firm in his stance, which led to a heated argument between the two individuals.
In a sudden and shocking turn of events, Galgol allegedly drew a knife from his pocket and attacked Raut, stabbing him in the stomach. Assistant Manager Nibalkar, witnessing the assault, rushed to Raut’s aid but was also attacked by Galgol, resulting in an injury to his hand. Meanwhile, Raut collapsed in a pool of blood, and immediate action was taken by bank employees who rushed him to a nearby private hospital. His condition is reported to be critical.
Upon receiving the information, local police swiftly responded to the incident. Galgol was detained, and the knife used in the attack was seized as evidence. The occurrence has caused a significant stir in the area, prompting many individuals to rush to the bank. As of the time of this report, the process of registering an official complaint was underway.
