Today, i.e. on 24th July 2025, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a man named Bablu alias Ravindra Yadav from Gulavathi, Bulandshahar, in Uttar Pradesh. He had been declared a proclaimed offender in a long-running bank fraud case and had been absconding for a long time.
Background of the CBI Case
The case dates back to 2011. On 5th December 2011, the CBI registered a bank fraud case after receiving a written complaint from the Assistant General Manager (AGM) of State Bank of India, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
According to the complaint, Naval Kishore Gupta, who was then the Branch Manager at Punjab National Bank’s Secunderabad branch, along with a private company owner and other unidentified people, committed a fraud of ₹1.18 crore. The fraud was carried out by opening a fake current account and using false documents like a fake Voter ID, PAN card, and lease deed.
Chargesheet Filed in 2013
After an investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet on 30th August 2013 against:
- Naval Kishore Gupta, Branch Manager, Punjab National Bank
- Devraj, Security Guard, PNB Secunderabad branch
- Bablu alias Ravindra Yadav, private individual
- Manoj, another private individual
The CBI also found that Bablu was involved in money laundering along with the other accused.
Accused Declared Proclaimed Offender in 2023
When the court was hearing the case on 20th December 2023, Bablu did not appear before the court. As a result, he was declared a proclaimed offender by the Special Judge, Anti-Corruption Court, CBI, Ghaziabad, and a permanent arrest warrant was issued against him. On the same day, the court sentenced the other three accused—Naval Kishore Gupta, Devraj, and Manoj—to 5 years of imprisonment each.
CBI Finally Arrests the Absconding Accused
After being on the run for over 1.5 years, CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB), Ghaziabad, continued their efforts to track down Bablu. Their hard work paid off on 24th July 2025, when they successfully arrested him in Gulavathi, Bulandshahar. He was presented before the Special Judge, CBI Court, Ghaziabad, and has now been sent to judicial custody.
More details will be released soon.
