Punjab National Bank (PNB), a government-owned bank, has once again shown its deep respect and support for the soldiers who protect our nation. As of June 11, 2025, PNB has provided financial help worth ₹17.02 crore to the families of 26 defence and paramilitary personnel who lost their lives while serving the country.
This financial assistance was given under the bank’s special insurance program called the Rakshak Plus Scheme, which is designed to support the families of security personnel in times of need.
Who Benefited from This Scheme?
Among the 26 families who received support were those whose loved ones laid down their lives in critical operations, such as Birli Gali. These heroes made the ultimate sacrifice for the safety of our nation.
The Rakshak Plus Scheme by PNB is a dedicated insurance and support plan for defence and paramilitary personnel. Here’s what it offers:
- ₹1 crore personal accident insurance in case of death or permanent total disability.
- ₹1.5 crore coverage in case of death due to an air accident.
- Coverage also includes partial disability and other benefits that meet the specific needs of people in uniform.
Recently, Punjab National Bank (PNB) has also extended financial help of ₹1 crore to the family of martyr Subedar Santosh Kumar, who lost his life in a bomb blast in Leh-Ladakh in February 2025. This assistance was given under PNB’s Rakshak Plus scheme, which offers financial protection to soldiers in case of accidents.
