Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently filed his nomination for the Varanasi Lok Sabha seat and declared his personal assets. Here are the key details:

  • Total Assets: PM Modi declared personal assets worth Rs 3.02 crore in his affidavit.
  • Investments: The affidavit stated that he had no investments in bonds, debentures, shares, or mutual funds.
  • Cash: As of March 31, 2024, Prime Minister Modi reported holding a total of Rs 52,920 in cash.
  • Fixed Deposit Receipts: PM Modi’s assets include Rs 2.86 crore in fixed deposit receipts (FDRs) at the State Bank of India (SBI).
  • Savings Accounts: He also holds Rs 80,304 in SBI savings accounts.
  • National Savings Certificates and Gold Rings: The Prime Minister declared Rs 9.13 lakh in National Savings Certificates and four gold rings weighing 45 grams worth Rs 2.68 lakh.
  • Immovable Property: However, he did not report owning any immovable property.
  • Income Tax: PM Modi disclosed that Rs 3.33 lakh was deducted as income tax for the financial year 2023-24.
  • Income Sources: Prime Minister Modi reported income from two sources: salary from the Prime Minister’s Office and interest income. His total income, according to his income tax return (ITR) for the financial year 2022-23, was Rs 23.56 lakh.

Prime Minister Modi filed his Lok Sabha nomination papers from Varanasi, his constituency for the past 10 years. Before filing the papers, he offered prayers and performed aarti at Dashwamedh Ghat. He was accompanied by several leaders of the National Democratic Alliance and chief ministers of NDA-ruled states when he filed for nomination. Varanasi will vote on June 1 in the seventh and final phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
