The van belongs to CMS Info System Ltd. and was transporting cash from a private bank in J.P. Nagar when an SUV blocked its way. The robbers said that they needed to ‘verify documents’ and forced the staff to cooperate. The robbers then allegedly made the staff sit inside their car along with the cash boxes and drove towards Dairy Circle. After reaching the spot, the robbers abandoned the staff and fled with the money.

According to the complaint by Vinod Chandrar, branch manager, around six accused posing as RBI officials intercepted the vehicle near Siddapura Lalbagh gate, took Aftab, and security guards into their vehicle and asked the driver to follow them. The accused later stopped the vehicle on the flyover near Dairy Circle, took the cash box containing ₹7.11 crore at gunpoint and escaped along with the DVR installed in the van. Binod Kumar later informed the manager who, in turn, alerted the office and the police.

The CMS van was carrying cash from the HDFC Bank branch in JP Nagar when an Innova car blocked its path. Police have formed Special teams and launched a massive manhunt to track down the accused. The police have examined the recordings of over 50 CCTV cameras and have alerted checkpoints across various routes.

The police said they have obtained important information from the staff who were inside the cash van at the time of the incident. They suspect that staff of the company may be involved in this robbery as the driver of the van allegedly delayed informing the police and was giving a different statement. It is also being probed why the armed security staff in the van did not use the weapons or resist.
