Pension Form 6-A: The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare, under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, has announced a new process aimed at simplifying pension applications for Central Government employees. Beginning October 15, 2024, the Single Pension Application Form 6-A will be available through online platforms such as Bhavishya and e-HRMS, streamlining the process for retirees.

Simplifying Pension Procedures

The introduction of Form 6-A is intended to replace the multiple forms currently required for pension applications, consolidating them into a single, easy-to-use format. The shift to this streamlined application process comes in response to government efforts to modernize pension systems and reduce bureaucratic hurdles. Originally detailed in the government’s G.S.R. 410(E) notification on July 16, 2024, the new pension form will become mandatory from November 16, 2024, allowing for a 120-day transition period.

How the New System Works

Retiring Central Government employees will be required to submit their pension applications using the Single Pension Application Form 6-A via the Bhavishya or e-HRMS platforms. These online systems are designed to offer a more efficient and user-friendly experience, significantly reducing processing times and paperwork.

In preparation for the transition, all Ministries and Departments have been instructed to inform relevant personnel about the changes to ensure smooth and consistent implementation across departments. This move is part of the government’s larger push to digitalize administrative processes, making them faster and more accessible for both employees and administrators.

The launch of Form 6-A marks a major step toward modernizing the pension application system for Central Government employees. By moving the process online, the government aims to make retirement smoother and less complicated for its workforce, reducing delays and administrative bottlenecks.

With the official roll-out of Form 6-A, retiring employees are urged to utilize Bhavishya and e-HRMS to ensure a quick and efficient transition into retirement, without the traditional paperwork-heavy process. The government’s commitment to modernizing pension-related services is a notable step in improving the experience for retirees across the country.
