UCO Bank has issued a circular instructing all its branches and offices to refrain from spending on gifts and related items during Diwali and other festivals.

The order from UCO Bank has been issued due to a notification from the Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, dated September 26, 2025, which stated that government departments should not spend public money on distribution of sweets and gifts on Diwali.

Quoting the government’s order, the bank stated:

“No expenditure shall be incurred on gifts and related items for Diwali and other festivals by Ministries/ Departments and other organs of the Government of India.”
