On Thursday, the central government named Nina Singh as the inaugural woman Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Currently serving as the Special DG of the CISF, Singh is a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Rajasthan cadre.

Simultaneously, Rahul Rasgotra, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Manipur cadre and the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), was appointed as the new Director General of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).

Meanwhile, the current ITBP chief, Anish Dayal Singh, has been appointed as the Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Singh, with an extensive background in the country’s internal security and counter-intelligence agency, IB, is currently investigating the Parliament security breach incident that occurred on December 11.

In addition, Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre and a special director at the Intelligence Bureau, has been appointed as the Director General of the Fire Service, Civil Defence, and Home Guards.

These appointments mark the central government’s trend of selecting top IB officials to lead paramilitary forces and are seen as a strategic move in the ongoing restructuring of the Intelligence Bureau.
