Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, has expressed confidence that the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) will play a leading role in helping India’s IT sector achieve an ambitious services export target of $450 billion in the upcoming financial year.

Speaking at an industry event, Goyal emphasized the growing importance of MSMEs in the digital economy and their contribution to India’s export strength. He noted that with the right policy support, innovation, and focus on quality, MSMEs can enhance their global footprint and take India’s IT services exports to new heights.

Key Role of MSMEs in IT Growth

The minister highlighted that MSMEs have been crucial in driving innovation and offering competitive IT services globally. Their adaptability and resilience during challenging times have positioned them as key players in achieving India’s export goals.

According to Goyal, MSMEs, when empowered, can not only contribute to the IT sector’s overall growth but also help strengthen India’s position as a global leader in IT services exports.

Government Support for MSMEs

The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs through various initiatives, including ease of doing business reforms, access to financing, and skill development programs. These measures aim to equip MSMEs with the tools needed to compete on the global stage and contribute to India’s $450 billion services export goal.

Vision for a Strong Digital Economy

Goyal also stressed that achieving this ambitious target will not only benefit the IT sector but will also contribute significantly to India’s broader goal of building a robust digital economy. By enhancing exports, the IT sector can generate more employment opportunities, improve technological advancements, and attract foreign investments.

The minister’s remarks come at a time when India’s IT exports have been steadily growing, with MSMEs increasingly gaining recognition for their role in delivering cost-effective and high-quality services to international clients.

As the next financial year approaches, the focus will remain on how MSMEs can drive growth and help the IT sector achieve the ambitious $450 billion target.
