In Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut, three victims from the Rohata police station area have accused a local man of defrauding them out of lakhs under the pretense of securing loans. The victims allege that the accused initially posed as an employee of PNB Bank. Now, by showing photos of himself with Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders and claiming to be an SP leader, he is threatening them with fake legal cases.
Tanveer Rajput from Salhapur village and Shahnawaz from Puth village went to the SSP office on Wednesday. Tanveer stated that a man named Gulbahar from Khivai village, posing as a PNB employee, promised to secure him a business loan of ₹50 lakh. In return, Tanveer paid ₹2.5 lakh in cash and another ₹2.5 lakh via bank transfer. However, even after six months, the loan was not granted.
Similarly, Shahnawaz was defrauded of ₹1.5 lakh on the promise of securing a Mudra loan. Dilshad was also scammed out of ₹1.2 lakh under the pretext of getting a ₹15 lakh loan. The victims claim that none of their loans were processed. When they demanded their money back, the accused began showing pictures with SP leaders and threatened to have them jailed on false charges, claiming to be an SP leader himself. Despite multiple complaints to the police station, no action has been taken. The SSP has now instructed the police to investigate and take action in the matter.
