LIC Sets Guinness World Record by Selling Over 5.88 Lakh Life Insurance Policies in a Day

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has set a new world record by selling the most life insurance policies in a single day. This amazing achievement has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records, marking a proud moment for the country and the insurance industry.

On January 20, 2025, a total of 4,52,839 LIC agents from across India came together for a special campaign called ‘Mad Million Day’. In just 24 hours, they successfully issued a record-breaking 5,88,107 life insurance policies. This number is now the highest ever recorded for life insurance policy sales in one day anywhere in the world.

This record was not just about numbers—it was a reflection of LIC’s commitment to securing the financial future of millions of Indians. The campaign was launched under the leadership of Siddhartha Mohanty, LIC’s MD and CEO, who encouraged every LIC agent to complete at least one policy on January 20.
