Stock Markets Are Open Today

Both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE) are open today i.e. 12 May 2025 and operating as usual today. Despite the observance of Buddha Purnima, trading activities across all segments are proceeding without interruption. Only Currency Derivatives Segments in BSE are closed today i.e. 12 May 2025 as per the BSE trading holiday list.

According to the official holiday lists published by BSE and NSE, Buddha Purnima is not designated as a trading holiday in 2025. The only stock market holiday this month was on May 1, 2025, in observance of Maharashtra Day.

Note on Settlement Holiday

While trading is active today, it’s important to note that May 12, 2025, is a settlement holiday due to Buddha Purnima. This means that although you can execute trades, the actual settlement of funds and securities will not occur today. Such settlements will be processed on the next working day. A settlement holiday is a day when trading is possible, but clearing and settlement are closed for Payin and Payout of stocks and funds.
