In a shocking crime driven by greed, the Sambhal Police have solved a murder case that had remained unsolved for a year. The victim was a specially-abled man named Dariyab, whose life was taken in a cruel plan to claim ₹51 lakh from life insurance policies.
Police have arrested four people in connection with the murder, including an advisor from Axis Bank. According to the police, these individuals planned and carried out the murder so they could collect the insurance money.
How the Murder Happened
Sambhal Superintendent of Police (SP) Krishan Bishnoi shared details of the case in a video statement. He explained that the murder was carefully planned. First, the attackers hit Dariyab on the head with a hammer. After that, they ran him over with a car to make it look like an accident.
After the crime, Dariyab’s family filed a police complaint claiming he had been hit by an unknown vehicle in a road accident. Because there wasn’t enough evidence at the time, the police filed a Final Report (FR) and closed the case four months later.
Insurance Company reopened case
The case took a major turn when Tata AIA Life Insurance, a leading insurance company, contacted the police. They suspected that something was wrong with the insurance claim related to Dariyab’s death. Thanks to this crucial tip, the police decided to reopen the investigation.
When the police looked deeper, they found several clues that raised suspicion. SP Bishnoi said that Dariyab’s body was found 27 kilometers away from his home, which didn’t make sense because he was unable to walk long distances. This unusual detail made the police question the story further.
As the investigation progressed, the police uncovered a shocking conspiracy. Two brothers, named Hariom and Vinod, were found to be the main planners behind the crime. They had worked together with Pankaj Raghav, an advisor at Axis Max Life Insurance, to secretly create several life insurance policies under Dariyab’s name throughout 2023.
In August 2024, the accused reportedly hired a man named Pratap to carry out the murder. Their plan was to make the death look accidental so they could claim the full insurance payout.
Before the scam was discovered, the accused had already received ₹15 lakh from the insurance policies. Thanks to the police investigation, all four people involved in the crime have now been arrested. The police also recovered the murder weapon, a hammer, along with important documents connected to the insurance fraud.
A Chilling Example of Crime for Insurance Fraud
This case serves as a grim reminder of how people can misuse insurance policies for financial gain. The Sambhal Police have been praised for their efforts in solving this difficult case and bringing the culprits to justice. This case is seriously inhumane and the government should try to stop such incidents.
