A Reddit user has shared a troubling experience with a salesperson from IndusInd Bank, who allegedly tried to manipulate them into applying for a credit card. The salesperson reportedly claimed he would lose his job if the user refused the offer.

According to the Reddit post, the user had initially agreed to apply for the Legend Credit Card but later changed his mind. When they informed the salesperson about their decision, the salesperson allegedly resorted to emotional pressure.

Salesperson’s Emotional Plea

The Reddit user posted a screenshot of messages from the salesperson, which read:

“Hi sir, have you completed the vKYC?

Hi sir, Priya here from IndusInd Bank trying to reach you. Please respond… because of your application, my job is in trouble, sir. Please understand [sic].

The user described the salesperson’s persistence as an attempt to “guilt-trip” them into completing the credit card application.

Other Users Share Similar Experiences

Following the post, several Reddit users commented that they had faced similar situations with sales representatives from various banks.

One user said:
“The same thing happened to me. I told them that they are not cut out for this job since they failed to convince me. A few months later, the same person called and told me they were transferred to customer service after their manager reviewed our call. They even thanked me.”

Another user shared their experience with Yes Bank, where a salesperson attempted to apply for a different credit card on their behalf. Despite not completing the verification process, they later received a notification that the credit card had been dispatched without their consent.

Some users also criticized the sales tactics used by credit card agents, with one commenting:
“If her job is at risk just because of you, she’s not a very good salesperson.”

Another added:
“I hate these guilt traps. They even call me on my birthday to push credit cards I don’t need.”

Rising Concerns Over Credit Card Sales Tactics

The incident has sparked discussions about aggressive sales tactics used by bank representatives. Many users expressed concerns over how credit card salespeople pressure potential customers, sometimes using emotional manipulation.

While banks encourage their sales teams to meet targets, cases like this highlight the need for ethical sales practices and transparency in financial services.
