Bidar: On Friday, the Income Tax Department conducted a raid on the Bidar District Central Cooperative (DCC) Bank located in Bidar, Karnataka. The bank is headed by Amarkumar Khandre, the brother of Forest Minister Eshwar B Khandre. A team of 15 officials, including personnel from Kalaburagi, Yadgir, and Telangana, were involved in the raid.

During the raid, the officials locked the main doors of the bank and began examining the documents and records. They also seized the mobile phones of the bank officials and staff members. To ensure security, the police presence at the bank’s entrance was increased.

The Income Tax Department’s raid is believed to be related to the bank’s lending activities during an election period. It has been noted that Khandre’s son, Sagar Khandre, is currently contesting the elections on a Congress party ticket. Amarkumar Khandre was elected as the chairman of the bank during the elections held in October of the previous year. At that time, he had aligned himself with the faction opposing Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba. Some Congress leaders have alleged that the Income Tax raid is politically motivated, taking into account these circumstances.

SP Channabasavanna, the Superintendent of Police in Bidar, confirmed that the Income Tax Department had indeed conducted a raid on the bank. He also mentioned that the police were providing security to the premises at the request of the department. However, he stated that they were not aware of the details of the ongoing activities inside the bank during the raid.

The purpose and findings of the Income Tax Department’s raid on the Bidar DCC Bank are yet to be disclosed. The investigation is expected to shed light on any irregularities or violations in the bank’s operations and lending practices.
